The Family Co. Youth Services offer information, support and programs for young people, schools and families. Our experienced staff aim to support young people to strengthen and foster relationships and develop resilience and life skills. We offer a range of programs and services that help young people become self-aware, understand and explore their potential, and be present and connected in their community.

This 4 week online parenting program "Building Resilience in Children" will help teach you how to help your child regulate their nervous system and manage anxious feelings to build long term resilience.

Build Strength, reduce stress and meet new people while engaging with your bub in this free Yoga class for Mums and Bubs, held at Jannali on Monday mornings.
Pathway of Change: Domestic Violence Support Group (Term 1, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This free, 8 week education and support group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing space for women to understand the complexity of Domestic Violence and reduce the social isolation of their experience. Through the lived and shared experiences of women and their children, the group allows women to build on their strengths to keep themselves and their children safe.

Meet Anxiety: A Parenting education program for parents of children who suffer from anxiety (March 2023) *Open for Sutherland Shire Residents Only

Meet Anxiety is a free Parenting Education program to help parents identify and manage their child's problematic anxiety and related behaviours. Commencing on Tuesday 14th March 2023 and held weekly for 3 weeks this group will be held via Zoom
Managing Big Feelings: Emotion Coaching Workshop for Parents (Term 1, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This FREE Parent Education/ Emotion Coaching Workshop Series will be held on Thursdays for 3 weeks during March at our Jannali site. This 3 week program will help parents understand what emotion coaching is, and how they can use it to help their children understand and better manage their emotions. Limited places available.
Mums & Bubs Yoga

Mums & Bubs Yoga is a yoga program for mums and their babies (under 6 months old) to build strength, reduce stress and increase connection. Available for Sutherland Shire residents.
Meet Anxiety

Meet Anxiety is a parenting group for parents of children aged 5-12 years who suffer from anxiety to help them parent in a way that supports their child's mental and emotional health and builds the child's long term resilience.
Conversation is Key

Conversation is Key is a free parent education workshop of parents of children in Year 5 or 6 about navigating talks with your child about healthy relationships and consent.
Consent Conversations Parenting Workshop

Consent Conversations is a Parent Education Workshop to help parents have open and honest conversations with their teenager about respect and consent in their relationships.
Managing Big Feelings in Little People

Big Feelings in Little People is an Emotion Coaching Program developed by The Family Co. which aims to help parents understand their child's cognitive and emotional development, and give them practical tools to help their children learn how to express their feelings and regulate strong emotions.
Tuning in to Teens

Tuning Into Teens Parent Education Program is a FREE, 6 week workshop series to help parents learn important skills that will improve their communication and relationships with their teens and reduce conflict in their homes. This program is run periodically throughout the year and is available for Sutherland Shire residents. Call us to see when the next intake is.
Baby & Me: Young Parents Support Group

Our FREE, 4 week "Baby & Me" Parenting Group for Young Parents is for pregnant or new parents with babies under 6 months to learn parenting skills and "parenting secrets" to help foster connection.

Group Programs Schedule

Each term, we publish a calendar of events for programs we offer. This includes our Parenting Support Programs, Early Childhood and Educational Support Programs and Domestic Violence Support Programs.
How to Refer

Help is easy to access. You can be referred by a health professional or another agency, or self-refer. Just call us on (02) 9528 2933 and tell us what you need help with.
Family Caseworker Program

Family Workers provide assistance to families who, for a variety of reasons, would benefit from additional support.
Learning about Australian Animals sparks joy in Djanaba kids

Last week the Djanaba Occasional Care team integrated a learning unit on Australian Animals, with the children showing great interest in the varied activities from reading, to art, to games, that helped them learn all about koalas, kangaroos, and other native fauna.

We offer services that support and strengthen the capacity of families, build parenting skills, and promote safety for all family members.
Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to help us! We're a lean and specialised team, and while we don't allow volunteers in client facing capacities, we are very grateful to have volunteers who can assist with admin, marketing and events. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!
Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service

The Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SSWDVCAS) provides information, advocacy and referrals for women and families attending Sutherland and Kogarah Local Courts for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.
