Consent Conversations: Parenting Seminar (18 October 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

An important part of parenting a teen is making sure they have appropriate information on consent and respect, while learning healthy relationship behaviours. This isn't always an "easy" talk, and many parents feel unprepared.

On Wednesday 18th October 2023 from 7:00 - 8:30pm, The Family Co. Youth Team is hosting a free online workshop (via Zoom) for parents wanting to learn how to talk to their kids about consent and navigating their rights and responsibilities in their relationships.

This free workshop is open to anyone who lives in the Sutherland Shire LGA.

This is a must attend event for any parent struggling to know "what to say" or "how to say it".

October School Holiday Art Class for Kids (Aged 7-12) - Clay & Painting

On 5th October, we're offering a School Holidays art class for kids! Using clay and painting methods, facilitated by a qualified art therapist, our child will have the opportunity to express themselves artistically while trying out new materials and art making techniques. Class is $40 for 1.5 hours and includes all materials. For children aged 7-12 only. Book now as limit of 12 children applies. Creative Kids Vouchers Accepted.
Pathway of Change: Domestic Violence Support Group (Term 4, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This free, 5 week education and support group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing space for women to understand the complexity of Domestic Violence and reduce the social isolation of their experience. Through the lived and shared experiences of women and their children, the group allows women to build on their strengths to keep themselves and their children safe.
Managing Big Feelings: Emotion Coaching Workshop for Parents (Term 4, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This FREE Parent Education/ Emotion Coaching Workshop Series will be held on Tuesdays for 3 weeks during October/November at our Jannali site. This 3 week program will help parents understand what emotion coaching is, and how they can use it to help their children understand and better manage their emotions. Limited places available.

Mums and Bubs Yoga Term 4 (2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

Build Strength, reduce stress and meet new people while engaging with your bub in this Yoga class for Mums and Bubs, held at Jannali on Monday mornings. The cost for the term (8 classes) is $80.

Meet Anxiety: A parenting education program for parents of children with anxiety (October 2023) *Open for Sutherland Shire Residents Only

The "Meet Anxiety" parenting program is delivered over 3 weeks commencing on Tuesday 17th October 2023 on Zoom. The cost of this program is $20 per family which includes 3 sessions and all program resources.
Mums & Bubs Yoga

Mums & Bubs Yoga is a yoga program for mums and their babies (under 6 months old) to build strength, reduce stress and increase connection. Available for Sutherland Shire residents.
Meet Anxiety

Meet Anxiety is a parenting group for parents of children of any age who suffer from anxiety to help them parent in a way that supports their child's mental and emotional health and builds the child's long term resilience.
Conversation is Key

Conversation is Key is a free parent education workshop of parents of children in Year 5 or 6 about navigating talks with your child about healthy relationships and consent.

Managing Big Feelings in Little People

Big Feelings in Little People is an Emotion Coaching Program developed by The Family Co. which aims to help parents understand their child's cognitive and emotional development, and give them practical tools to help their children learn how to express their feelings and regulate strong emotions.
Tuning in to Teens

Tuning Into Teens Parent Education Program is a FREE, 6 week workshop series to help parents learn important skills that will improve their communication and relationships with their teens and reduce conflict in their homes. This program is run periodically throughout the year and is available for Sutherland Shire residents. Call us to see when the next intake is.

Domestic and Family Violence Caseworker

A vacancy exists for a Domestic and Family Violence Caseworker. This role is Full Time (37.5 hours a week) and offered on a Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2024
Family Caseworker Program

Family Workers provide assistance to families who, for a variety of reasons, would benefit from additional support.
Learning about Australian Animals sparks joy in Djanaba kids

Last week the Djanaba Occasional Care team integrated a learning unit on Australian Animals, with the children showing great interest in the varied activities from reading, to art, to games, that helped them learn all about koalas, kangaroos, and other native fauna.
Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service

The Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SSWDVCAS) provides information, advocacy and referrals for women and families attending Sutherland and Kogarah Local Courts for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.
