Through a partnership with Volvo Group Australia (VGA), The Family Co. has made 3,000 training places available in their Toolbox Talks Domestic Violence Awareness Program over the coming 12 months.

Details of available sessions are below:

Regardless of where you are based, your team can participate in an online Zoom session, delivered live with our qualified instructors. Each session has a capacity of 40 people.

In the 45 minute sessions, teams will learn how to identify types of violence, common indicators someone is using or experiencing violence & safe bystander responses as well as provide information about support services for victims and users of violence and assistance to engage with those services.

Our Harnessing the Positive Influence of Men sessions are geared towards a male-dominated audience.
Our Harnessing the Power of the Community Sessions are for a gender balanced audience.

Dates released for our VGA sponsored online sessions are

27, 28 & 29th July 2021 - 5 available sessions per day (9:30am (2 sessions), 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:00pm)
10, 11 & 12 August 2021 - 5 available sessions per day (9:30am (2 sessions), 11:00am, 1:30pm and 3:00pm)

The Toolbox Talks Team are doing a roadshow across Australia in the coming months, delivering Domestic Violence Awareness Training on worksites across the country. To book a session where the the team can come to you, or arrange training for your team at a venue close by, please complete this Expression of Interest Form, and a member of our team will be in touch to set up a time and place that works for your business.

As a dealer or customer of VGA, your business is eligible for this training at no cost to you.

Consent Conversations: Parenting Seminar (18 October 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

Join us on Wednesday 18th October 2023 from 7pm-8:30pm for a parenting workshop on the topic of "Consent Conversations" for parents wanting to learn how to talk to their kids about consent, and navigating their rights and responsibilities in relationships.
October School Holiday Art Class for Kids (Aged 7-12) - Clay & Painting

On 5th October, we're offering a School Holidays art class for kids! Using clay and painting methods, facilitated by a qualified art therapist, our child will have the opportunity to express themselves artistically while trying out new materials and art making techniques. Class is $40 for 1.5 hours and includes all materials. For children aged 7-12 only. Book now as limit of 12 children applies. Creative Kids Vouchers Accepted.
Pathway of Change: Domestic Violence Support Group (Term 4, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This free, 5 week education and support group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing space for women to understand the complexity of Domestic Violence and reduce the social isolation of their experience. Through the lived and shared experiences of women and their children, the group allows women to build on their strengths to keep themselves and their children safe.
Managing Big Feelings: Emotion Coaching Workshop for Parents (Term 4, 2023) *Open to Sutherland Shire Residents Only

This FREE Parent Education/ Emotion Coaching Workshop Series will be held on Tuesdays for 3 weeks during October/November at our Jannali site. This 3 week program will help parents understand what emotion coaching is, and how they can use it to help their children understand and better manage their emotions. Limited places available.

The Family Co. partners with Volvo Group Australia to tackle domestic violence

Volvo Group Australia (VGA) and The Family Co., have announced a partnership that will see over 3,000 transport industry workers across Australia educated on domestic & family violence over the next 12 months through their Toolbox Talks Workplace Training Initiative.
Covid-19 Funding Announcement from NSW Govt

In the recent announcements for additional COVID-19 related Domestic Violence Support Funding, Toolbox Talks received a grant from the NSW Government to make their DV Awareness & Support programs more readily available in the community.
Free DV Training for NSW Workplaces

As a result of the NSW Govt Covid-19 funding support package, Toolbox Talks is offering a limited number of FREE workplace training sessions for NSW based workplaces with male dominated workforces between July and December 2020. Eligibility criteria apply.
Toolbox Talks - Management Sessions

The Toolbox Talks Program also offers Management Sessions, equipping management with information about their employer obligations, how to support staff experiencing abuse and tackling issues that affect productivity and safety of staff.

Harnessing the Positive Influence of the Community focuses on the prevention of violence against women and children from a community perspective and is suitable for mixed gender audiences.
Harnessing the Positive Influence of Men

The "Harnessing the Positive Influence of Men" s a Toolbox Talks program targeted at male dominated industries. This program is designed to draw focus to the critical role that the leadership of men plays in improving safety for women and children and highlights how social pressures and stereotypes are harmful for both men and women.

Group Programs Schedule

Each term, we publish a calendar of events for programs we offer. This includes our Parenting Support Programs, Early Childhood and Educational Support Programs and Domestic Violence Support Programs.

Help is easy to access. You can be referred by a health professional or another agency, or self-refer. Just call us on (02) 9528 2933 and tell us what you need help with.
Domestic and Family Violence Caseworker

A vacancy exists for a Domestic and Family Violence Caseworker. This role is Full Time (37.5 hours a week) and offered on a Fixed Term contract until 30 June 2024
Family Caseworker Program

Family Workers provide assistance to families who, for a variety of reasons, would benefit from additional support.
Learning about Australian Animals sparks joy in Djanaba kids

Last week the Djanaba Occasional Care team integrated a learning unit on Australian Animals, with the children showing great interest in the varied activities from reading, to art, to games, that helped them learn all about koalas, kangaroos, and other native fauna.
Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service

The Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SSWDVCAS) provides information, advocacy and referrals for women and families attending Sutherland and Kogarah Local Courts for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.

Play and Connect is a free playgroup for families, and operates every Thursday morning during school terms at The Family Co centre in Jannali. This supportive group provides opportunity for families to connect with their child through fun, interactive activities, sensory play and art.
