Sometimes the smallest thing changes everything.

A train ticket. A new SIM card. A made-up bed. The kind of small, quiet thing that makes the day after the worst day of someone’s life look a little more like hope.

This end of financial year, your gift could make that possible. And it’s tax-deductible.

She called her mum and told her everything.

Her partner had been monitoring her phone for years. She couldn’t call her mum. She couldn’t Google her way out. She couldn’t even text a friend without him seeing it.

One of our caseworkers gave her a new SIM card. $10. That’s all it cost.

The day after, she made the phone call she’d been waiting years to make.

The day after support, life starts to look like itself again.

What makes the day after possible.

For nearly four decades, The Family Co. has walked alongside women, children and families through the hardest moments of their lives. We started in the Sutherland Shire, and we now support communities across Southern and South Eastern Sydney.

Our work doesn’t just look like crisis response. It also looks like recovery. The first night of unbroken sleep. The kitchen table where someone, finally, exhales.

These moments take more than goodwill. They take a fund that’s ready when families are. And they take an organisation strong enough to keep showing up, year after year, for more women and families than the year before.

Your EOFY gift helps fund both.

Where your gift goes.

Every donation to The Day After helps grow our discretionary support fund. This is the resource we draw on for two things, both essential to our mission.

Practical care, when families need it most.

Our caseworkers across domestic and family violence, family support, child youth and family, and Aboriginal services use this fund to provide the immediate, practical help that government funding doesn’t cover. The train ticket. The security camera. The sweep for tracking devices.

The work that helps us reach more women and families.

This fund also supports the organisational work that makes more days after possible. Expanding our services, growing our reach beyond Southern Sydney, building the digital tools families need to find us, and investing in the team behind the team.

Both kinds of work change lives. The first changes one life today. The second changes thousands of lives tomorrow.

The Day After appeal helps fund the moments that change everything - and the work that makes more of them possible.

Give before 30 June. Make it count twice.

Every gift made before 30 June 2026 is fully tax-deductible in this financial year.

And it lands at the moment we need it most. Demand for our services is high at this time of year and is when our discretionary fund is often stretched thinnest. Your EOFY gift helps us walk into the new financial year with what we need to keep saying yes.

Yes to the woman who calls. Yes to the child who needs a bed. Yes to the family who’s ready to start again.

Examples of how your gift helps.

A note on the stories below: These are real and possible examples of how we have used, and could use, our discretionary support fund. Your gift contributes to the broader fund. The specific support a family receives is determined by where the greatest need is at the time.
