Volunteer

Volunteer with The Family Co.

Volunteers are part of the family at The Family Co. When you give your time, skills and care, you help us create safety, connection and opportunity for children, young people, women and families to move from surviving to thriving.

Every volunteer brings something different, and the compassion and strength you bring matters as much as the time you give.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is about connection to community, purpose and hope.

Volunteering builds confidence, supports wellbeing and creates stronger communities. It offers the chance to learn new skills, share your experience and be part of something meaningful.

At The Family Co., volunteering is a two-way relationship. We value your contribution and are here to support you every step of the way, so you can make the most of your volunteering experience with us.

How Volunteers Support Our Work

Our volunteers contribute in many important ways, including:

  • Board and governance roles
  • Pro bono professional services (such as legal, finance, HR or marketing)
  • Office and administrative support
  • Events and fundraising
  • Gardening and maintenance

Together, these roles help us do more for the families we support.

About Volunteering Directly With Clients

Because of the sensitive nature of our work, opportunities to volunteer directly with clients are limited. This protects the safety, privacy and wellbeing of the people we support.

There are still many meaningful ways to be involved and make a difference. Take a look at the current opportunities below.

Your Volunteer Journey

We aim to make volunteering clear, respectful and supportive:

  1. Get in touch. Let us know you're interested or enquire
  2. Apply. Tell us what you'd like to help with and share your skills and availability
  3. Meet with us. Friendly interviews and required background checks
  4. Welcome and induction. Learning, support and guidance
  5. Staying connected. Ongoing support along the way

Interested in Volunteering?

We'd love to hear from you.

The Day After is our End of Financial Year appeal.
