Play and Connect

Play and Connect is a wonderful opportunity for families to bond with their children and connect with other local families in a fun, relaxed, and nurturing environment. Through engaging activities such as sensory play, interactive games, and art, this playgroup is designed to foster learning, creativity, and social connection for children from infancy to preschool. With both indoor and outdoor play areas, there’s plenty of space for little ones to explore and enjoy, while parents and caregivers can connect, share experiences, and build a supportive network.

The group is guided by an experienced parenting facilitator, offering a safe, predictable environment where primary caregivers—whether mothers, fathers, grandparents, or foster carers—can interact meaningfully with their children and others. New parents especially will find comfort in the welcoming atmosphere as they navigate the early stages of parenthood.

In addition to playgroup activities, Play and Connect provides opportunities for families to access other services and programs offered by The Family Co. or the wider community if needed.

Play and Connect meets weekly during school terms.

Due to the large number of families attending Play & Connect (Hurstville), we want to let you know that we may need to limit numbers on the day to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone on site. This means that, at times, we may need to turn participants away once we reach capacity.

Tuning into Teens (Term 3 2026) (Sutherland Shire & Georges River Residents Only)

The Family Co. is offering an abridged version of the popular Tuning in to Teens program. This 4-week parent education workshop series helps parents of tweens/teens aged 10-18 years reduce conflict, increase communication, and recognise, understand and respond to their teenager's emotions as well as their own. The group starts on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 from 10:30am - 12:30pm. Please note this program is for SUTHERLAND SHIRE & GEORGES RIVER RESIDENTS ONLY
Pathway of Change Term 3, 2026

This free, 5-week education and support group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing space for women to understand the complexity of Domestic Violence and reduce the social isolation of their experience. Through the lived and shared experiences of women and their children, the group allows women to build on their strengths to keep themselves and their children safe.
Healing Connections Term 3, 2026

The Healing Connections program is a research-backed, evidence-based initiative led by The Family Co.s Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services Team. Healing Connections is designed to support parents and caregivers in navigating the impact of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) on their relationship with their children.
The Family Co. Better Futures Ball

The Better Futures Ball is The Family Co.'s biggest night of the year. A formal/black tie celebration bringing together our community, our partners and the people who make our work possible. All profits from the night go directly to the wraparound, trauma-informed support that helps families build safer homes, stronger connections and brighter futures.

Bulk-Billed GP Services Now Available at The Family Co.

We are excited to announce that bulk-billed GP services are now available in-house at The Family Co. every Tuesday. This service is provided by the wonderful doctors at Kirrawee Family Medical Practice, ensuring that our clients have access to quality healthcare in a safe and supportive environment.
Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services

The Family Co’s “Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services” provides high quality wraparound therapeutic support and programs to safe caregivers and their children to support them with impacts of trauma, disadvantage and domestic and family violence, and assist them in creating safe and secure lives.
Coffee and Connect

Coffee and Connect is a weekly supportive social group and playgroup available for families of currently serving Defence force members to attend. This group supports families to build connections in their local area, with other Defence families, facing similar experiences.
Kids Cove

Kids Cove is an after-school kids club focused on building social skills, boosting confidence and fostering friendships. Through fun, interactive activities, Kids Cove promotes creativity and personal growth in a safe, nurturing environment.
Youth Programs & Services

The Family Co. Youth Services offer information, support and programs for young people, schools and families. Consent Conversations

Consent Conversations is a respectful relationship and consent education program aimed to empower High School students. (1.5 hours) In person - Max 30 students per group
Mums & Bubs Yoga

Mums & Bubs Yoga is a yoga program for mums and their babies (under 6 months old) to build strength, reduce stress and increase connection. Available for Sutherland Shire residents.
Respect is Key

Respect is Key is a school based respectful relationships program for primary school students which builds their knowledge and understanding around key concepts of respect, consent and healthy relationships.
Meet Anxiety

Meet Anxiety is a parenting group for parents of children of any age who suffer from anxiety to help them parent in a way that supports their child's mental and emotional health and builds the child's long term resilience.
Conversation is Key

Conversation is Key is a free parent education workshop of parents of children in Year 5 or 6 about navigating talks with your child about healthy relationships and consent.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to help us! We're a lean and specialised team, and while we don't allow volunteers in client facing capacities, we are very grateful to have volunteers who can assist with admin, marketing and events. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!

The Southern Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (SSWDVCAS) provides information, advocacy and referrals for women and families attending Sutherland and Kogarah Local Courts for Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders.
