Coffee and Connect is a vibrant, welcoming social group and playgroup specifically designed for families of current serving Defence force members. This weekly gathering offers a relaxed environment where Defence families can come together, share experiences, and build meaningful connections within their local community. It’s a chance to meet other families who understand the unique challenges and experiences of military life, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support.

For families attending with young children, both indoor and outdoor play facilities are available, featuring activities tailored for kids ranging from infancy to preschool age. This ensures that while parents and carers enjoy a cup of coffee and connect with others, children have a fun and engaging space to play and socialise.

Tuning into Teens (Term 3 2026) (Sutherland Shire & Georges River Residents Only)

The Family Co. is offering an abridged version of the popular Tuning in to Teens program. This 4-week parent education workshop series helps parents of tweens/teens aged 10-18 years reduce conflict, increase communication, and recognise, understand and respond to their teenager's emotions as well as their own. The group starts on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 from 10:30am - 12:30pm. Please note this program is for SUTHERLAND SHIRE & GEORGES RIVER RESIDENTS ONLY
Pathway of Change Term 3, 2026

This free, 5-week education and support group is designed to provide a safe and nurturing space for women to understand the complexity of Domestic Violence and reduce the social isolation of their experience. Through the lived and shared experiences of women and their children, the group allows women to build on their strengths to keep themselves and their children safe.
Healing Connections Term 3, 2026

The Healing Connections program is a research-backed, evidence-based initiative led by The Family Co.s Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services Team. Healing Connections is designed to support parents and caregivers in navigating the impact of Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) on their relationship with their children.
The Family Co. Better Futures Ball

The Better Futures Ball is The Family Co.'s biggest night of the year. A formal/black tie celebration bringing together our community, our partners and the people who make our work possible. All profits from the night go directly to the wraparound, trauma-informed support that helps families build safer homes, stronger connections and brighter futures.

Bulk-Billed GP Services Now Available at The Family Co.

We are excited to announce that bulk-billed GP services are now available in-house at The Family Co. every Tuesday. This service is provided by the wonderful doctors at Kirrawee Family Medical Practice, ensuring that our clients have access to quality healthcare in a safe and supportive environment.
Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services

The Family Co’s “Therapeutic Domestic and Family Violence Services” provides high quality wraparound therapeutic support and programs to safe caregivers and their children to support them with impacts of trauma, disadvantage and domestic and family violence, and assist them in creating safe and secure lives.
Kids Cove

Kids Cove is an after-school kids club focused on building social skills, boosting confidence and fostering friendships. Through fun, interactive activities, Kids Cove promotes creativity and personal growth in a safe, nurturing environment.
Play and Connect

Play and Connect is a free playgroup for families with children aged 0-5, and operates every Tuesday morning at The Family Co. centre in Jannali, and every Thursday morning at The Family Co. Hurstville during school terms. This supportive group provides opportunity for families to connect with their child and other families through fun, interactive activities, sensory play and art.
Youth Programs & Services

The Family Co. Youth Services offer information, support and programs for young people, schools and families. Our experienced staff aim to support young people to strengthen and foster relationships and develop resilience and life skills. We offer a range of programs and services that help young people become self-aware, understand and explore their potential, and be present and connected in their community.
Intensive Family Preservation

The Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) Program provides intensive interventions to work towards improving children’s safety, placement permanency and wellbeing. IFP is a family focused, and community-based service designed to help families cope with significant stressors impacting their ability to nurture their children.
Youth and Family Worker

The Youth & Family Worker provides a range of support, information and referrals which assist young people aged 12-18 years, their families and carers, in and environment that is non-judgemental, safe and friendly.
Domestic Violence Caseworker

A domestic violence caseworker understands the intricacies of domestic and family violence and is well equipped to provide additional support to any woman who is impacted by domestic violence. They work 1 on 1 with women who have been impacted by domestic violence to provide short term crisis support, can assist with safety planning, access to safe housing, Centrelink and Victims Services supports amongst other needs.
Aboriginal Family Worker Services

Aboriginal Family Workers provide practical and emotional support and assistance to Aboriginal families with young children who are experiencing difficulties.
Family Caseworker Program

Family Workers provide assistance to families who, for a variety of reasons, would benefit from additional support.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to help us! We're a lean and specialised team, and while we don't allow volunteers in client facing capacities, we are very grateful to have volunteers who can assist with admin, marketing and events. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you!
