Our Commitment to Reconciliation and Stronger Communities for All At The Family Co. Reconciliation is more than a principle - it’s a practice that shapes how we serve, support, and walk alongside the communities we care for every day. As we honour National Reconciliation Week 2025, we take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to building a stronger, more connected future - one that includes and uplifts our First Nations children, families, and communities. Bridging Now to Next is this year’s theme, and it couldn’t be more relevant. In our work across we witness the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and we recognise the ongoing challenges many still face. We acknowledge the deep and lasting impacts of colonisation, intergenerational trauma, and systemic disadvantage, and we are actively committed to doing better - together. Supporting Aboriginal Children and Families Our programs are designed to empower families with safety, connection, and opportunity. But true empowerment begins with cultural understanding and respect. That’s why The Family Co. is continually strengthening our cultural capability as an organisation. We’re investing in staff training, building genuine relationships with local Elders and Aboriginal-led organisations, and ensuring our services are culturally safe and inclusive. We are proud to support Aboriginal families through services that prioritise cultural identity, connection to Country, and community voice. Whether it’s through casework, youth services, domestic violence support, or parenting programs, our focus remains on creating safe, supportive pathways for First Nations families to thrive, not just survive. Building a Unified Community Reconciliation is about relationships. It’s about listening with open hearts, acknowledging the truth of our shared history, and acting with courage and consistency to create lasting change. At The Family Co., we believe in a future where every child has the right to grow up in a safe home, every woman feels empowered, and every family, regardless of background, has access to the support they need to live connected, healthy, and thriving lives. This Reconciliation Week, and every week, we continue the work. We walk alongside our Aboriginal colleagues, clients, and partners. We reflect on how far we’ve come, and recognise how far there is still to go. Our Ongoing Commitment As an organisation, we are currently developing a Reconciliation Action Plan to help embed cultural safety and accountability in everything we do. We know that change takes time, but it starts with action. We invite our community, our partners, and our supporters to join us on this journey. Because reconciliation is not a one-week event. It’s a long-term commitment to justice, truth, and unity, for all. Now more than ever, we walk together.Aboriginal Services and Supports Here Manage Cookie Preferences
