Advocating for Respectful Relationships

Last Friday, November 29th, The Family Co. proudly joined forces with the community at two impactful events: the Georges River No Domestic Violence Walk and the Walk for Respectful Relationships. These inspiring events marked the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign to challenge violence and promote equality.

The day brought together a diverse group of passionate individuals, from local leaders and advocates to schools and community services. Among those who walked with us were Simone O’Brien, the St George Domestic Violence Committee, Councillors, Federal and State Members of Parliament, St George Police Area Command, and representatives from local high schools and community organisations. Together, we stood strong, united in our commitment to fostering respectful relationships and ending domestic and family violence.

Why We Walked

Each step taken during these events was a powerful symbol of collective determination. It was a call to action for a future where all relationships are rooted in respect, kindness, and equality—a future free from violence.

These walks were more than just events; they were a platform for education, advocacy, and connection. The energy in the air was palpable, driven by the hope and determination of everyone present. It was a moment to reflect on the challenges we face and the progress we are making, while reaffirming our shared responsibility to create lasting change.
