The Family Co. are delighted to be involved again in this year's Walk for Respectful Relationships, to be held again as a virtual event on Friday 19th November 2021.

This year’s theme is  “Call out, Speak out, Help out”

Join us online at www.walkforrespectfulrelationships.org.au or engage on the social media platforms to share your support to services who work with domestic violence victims, educate yourself about DV in the Sutherland Shire and what you can do to Call Out. Speak Out. Help Out.

Participating in this years walk is a great opportunity for you to show your support and raise awareness of Domestic & Family Violence within your own community, by getting together with your family, friends, or colleagues to go out for a walk - at any time during the day - and talk about what you can do to create a safer community for women and children. While you're out on your walk, snap a photo, post it on your socials using the hashtag #EveryStepCounts and #CallOutSpeakOutHelpOut

What do we mean when we say let’s  Call Out, Speak Out or Help Out?

Let’s Call Out, behaviours and conversations that are disrespectful. Despite intentions, the resulting disrespect is not acceptable and needs to be challenged. Your individual voice can make a difference.

Let’s Speak Out to your family, peers, friends and teachers when needed. If you see, hear or feel disrespected you need to speak up and seek support. People will listen and respect you for having the courage to speak up.

Let’s Help Out, if someone you know asks you for help, ensure you believe them, support them in seeking service help - that could include 1800 Respect and for all emergencies call 000.

The Committee is encouraging all Shire based schools, workplaces and friendship groups to watch a video at 10am and engage with the message on social media.
