Last Thursday May 29th marked a major milestone for The Family Co. as we officially opened the doors to our new Hurstville office, welcoming community members, service partners, and local leaders to celebrate with us. The Hurstville Open Day was more than an event - it was a celebration of connection, compassion, and a shared commitment to supporting women, children, and families in Southern Sydney.

We were honoured by the attendance of several distinguished guests, including Simon Kennedy MP (Member for Cook), Zhi Soon (Labor Candidate for Banks), and Ben Wang (Hurstville Councillor). A very special thank you to Mayor Elise Borg of Georges River Council, who officially cut the ribbon to open the centre, marking the start of a new chapter for The Family Co. in Hurstville.

We also welcomed Leona Bennett from Southern Waters Legal, representatives from NSW Police, and valued stakeholders from Westfield Hurstville Scentre Management and Harris Jones Lawyers. Our Board was proudly represented by Chair Belinda Fairfax and Board Member Sarah Lamb, both of whom continue to guide our mission with dedication and care.

“It was incredibly heartwarming to see such strong community engagement and interest in our services,” said The Family Co. CEO Ashleigh Daines
“Our goal is to continue growing our footprint in the Southern Sydney region so that more families can access the support they need, when they need it.”

The day was filled with warm conversations, networking opportunities, and a chance to showcase the services that The Family Co. delivers every day - from domestic and family violence support, to parenting and youth programs, Aboriginal Supports and Services, and therapeutic group work.

Guests enjoyed a tour of the new office, connected with our staff, and explored how we can collaborate further to provide wraparound, trauma-informed support in our local community.

We’re immensely grateful to everyone who attended and shared in this moment with us. Your support and presence reinforce our mission: to create safe homes, strong families, and thriving communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported this special event. Your presence affirms the importance of creating inclusive, responsive spaces where families can feel safe and supported.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning! We look forward to continuing to work alongside our community to create lasting change.
