Sutherland Shire Walk For Respectful Relationships

The 2022 Walk for Respectful Relationships will be held on Friday 25th November 2022.  We're excited to be back in person this year, and invite you to join us at Cronulla for the walk, or share your efforts on social media.

The theme again is  “Call out, Speak out, Help out”

Participating in this years walk is a great opportunity for you to show your support and raise awareness of Domestic & Family Violence within your own community, by getting together with your family, friends, or colleagues to go out for a walk - at any time during the day - and talk about what you can do to create a safer community for women and children. While you're out on your walk, snap a photo, post it on your socials using the hashtag #EveryStepCounts and #StandUpSpeakOut or email them to us to join our Online Gallery.

Did you know that 1 Australian woman dies every 9 days at the hands of her current or former partner. Every death, every abusive act, is one too many. Join us to Stand Up, Speak Out, and reject violence in our community.

What do we mean when we say let’s  Call Out, Speak Out or Help Out?

Let’s Call Out, behaviours and conversations that are disrespectful. Despite intentions, the resulting disrespect is not acceptable and needs to be challenged. Your individual voice can make a difference.

Let’s Speak Out to your family, peers, friends and teachers when needed. If you see, hear or feel disrespected you need to speak up and seek support. People will listen and respect you for having the courage to speak up.

Let’s Help Out, if someone you know asks you for help, ensure you believe them, support them in seeking service help - that could include 1800 Respect and for all emergencies call 000.
