We are delighted to announce that our CEO Ashleigh Daines has been awarded as one of the 2021 Westfield Miranda Local Heroes, with the organisation benefiting from this with a $10,000 grant to go towards additional domestic violence support services for local women.

Thank you to Westfield for running such an incredible program for the community, and allowing us to be a part of it, and thank you to those people who voted for us, recognising the importance of the work that we do in supporting vulnerable families in the Sutherland Shire and helping families get through the trauma of domestic violence.

This funding will make an incredible difference for our organisation and will be used to further bolster the support programs that we’re able to offer local women who are experiencing domestic violence. It allows us to both run an additional 6 week support group with our qualified family and domestic violence support worker (for 12 women to get immediate support and education) as well as provide individual support to these women (and others) with 1:1 caseworkers, to assist with their ongoing safety planning, connect with relevant legal and housing support, and counsellors who can support their recovery and healing.

The Family Co. is one of the key support agencies in the Sutherland Shire for domestic violence support, and regularly run programs that help women survive and heal from the trauma of DV. More information about our DV services can be found here.

Our next Free Domestic Violence Support Information session on AVOs, Safety planning and court processes will be held this Thursday, and our next DV Support Group - Pathway of Change - starts on 21st October.
