For more than thirty-two years, Sutherland Shire Family Services has supported and strengthened the capacity of families within our community, dedicated to and focussed upon providing services that lead to safety and wellbeing which help to create brighter futures for children and their families. We acknowledge and appreciate that the foundation of our success is built upon the contributions and commitment from our dedicated staff across all of our services and programs.

Today we celebrated, Jann Griffiths, our Djanaba Occasional Care Centre Director for her 30 years of service to SSFS, with a Team morning tea. This was a lovely opportunity for us to thank Jann, along with reminisce about how far SSFS has come.

Djanaba initially started working out of a shed and backyard, providing respite care and a beautiful "distraction" for young children whose Mum's were meeting with counsellors and caseworkers.  As our service grew, so did the role Djanaba played in our organisation, through to the purpose built occasional care centre providing quality childcare to the whole community, as well as occasional respite placements that it does today.

Our CEO Ashleigh Daines thanked Jann for her service and contribution to the history of SSFS, and the contribution she has made to the many young lives that have enjoyed using Djanaba through her quality programming and leadership of other staff.

Jann has often said that her favourite part of working with children is that "no two days are ever the same, and what a privilege it is to meet the many beautiful little personalities and watch them learn and grow." We know that many children have loved coming to our centre because of the wonderful, caring and stimulating environment that Jann and her team have created for them.
