We are delighted to announce that The Family Co. is teaming up with one of the Shire’s largest online community for mothers, Mums of the Shire, to bring increased awareness of domestic violence information, resources and support to the community.

Mums of the Shire has recently seen a concerning increase in the number of mothers seeking advice and support for domestic violence situations. Moved by this issue,  Alhana and Mia, who run Mums of the Shire, reached out to The Family Co’s CEO Ashleigh Daines to learn more about their work in the community and how they could utilise their services to provide greater visibility of support and awareness to the community. The meeting left Alhana and Mia deeply saddened to learn about the large number of reported domestic violence cases that The Family Co. receives each month (an average of 400 cases per month). They realised that many cases may not be accessing available support, in part due to a lack of knowledge about available support options.

Through learning of the extent of the local problem, Mums of the Shire has committed to work closely with The Family Co. to share as many resources, tools, and information with the Mums of the Shire community. The two organisations will be joining forces to raise awareness about domestic violence and provide essential support and resources to those in need.  "Domestic violence is a critical issue that affects too many families in our community," said Alhana and Mia. "We are proud to partner with The Family Co. to help combat this issue and provide support and resources to those who need it most."

We are thrilled to be working with Mums of the Shire to raise awareness and provide support to those affected by domestic violence. This partnership allows us to make more of the Sutherland Shire community aware of our services and support, and together, we can make a real difference in our community.
